How Much Do Supply Teachers and TAs Get Paid?

Pay is one of the biggest questions educators have before stepping into supply — and understandably so. Supply work can feel mysterious from the outside, but the reality is simple: your rate depends on your role, experience, and the type of booking.

Teachers

  • Day‑to‑day: Paid a flat daily rate (no planning etc)

  • Long‑term: Often paid to scale (M1–M6 to UPS)

  • Specialist subjects: Sometimes higher due to demand

  • AWR for long-term teaching roles from day one! (Paid to a scale).

TAs

  • Paid hourly

  • Higher rates for SEND, 1:1, or behaviour roles

The key thing to know? You should always understand your rate upfront. A good agency will explain it clearly, pay weekly, and never hide holiday pay inside confusing numbers.

At Pebl we pay transparently and through PAYE.

Your pay will be inclusive of the 12.07% holiday pay.

We will always pay our staff fairly and fairly!
